Sudagaran is a district in Cilacap, Central Java. Sudagaran weather is really dry and full of pollution from big truck who's passing by the main road everyday. I stayed not so far from the main road but it takes more than 30 minutes to reach the place i stayed because the road there is really damaged. I was assigned to do social work for empower youth in the village and local government there. We live in that village for a month from 26th August to 30th September 2017. Me and my team have many program during our stay in that village we differ the program to several section which is : health , education, legal , economy, and environment.
In a health sector our programs start from education of brushing teeth and to washing hands for elementary children. We teach them how the importance of having clean lifestyle. The other program is integrated maternal health and child center.
In education sector which led by me we have many programs such as : we provide teaching Qur'an and mentoring assistant in madrasa, on daily we open class for children in that district to consult their homework, the class is open from 12 am to 3 pm and continue from 6 pm to 9 pm the participant of the class come from 1 - 6 grade of elementary school, sometimes we also receive student from junior high school. In addition we also did a motivation to student from Mts (junior highschool) Muhammadiyah Sudagaran to continue their study until university, we motivate them to dream high to pursue their dream and build their village in the future. Moreover, we didn't forget to give them information for any scholarship that available for them to access if they want to study in university. I persuade them that nothing is impossible, nowadays there is many ways to continue the study, government already provide the scholarship for them to access.
We visited several high school to gave socialization about the impact of drugs and cigarette. We
deeply suggest them to be aware avoid any kind of things that are not good for them and help people in their surrounding if there any drugs addict. On Indonesia Independence day we celebrate it together with the children in that district we held many games for them. Lastly because english is not given to them in elementary school i made a basic english class, i teach them about day,number, and how to introduce themself in english. I'm so glad that all the children here is really enthusiast to learn.
In economic sector we empower the local enterpreneur (mostly women) to maximalize their products , to expand their goods to bigger market, we give them socialization about the power of macro economy and how to market their product online furthermore we also help them to sell the product in Regional expo. As a result now they have the official name and label of the product.
In a legal sector we empower the local governement by held an event that bring together the village officials with the citizen of that district. We give the citizen place and time to voice their aspiration, their ideas and recommendation to the to build the village, we brought the local government to them. In that event i being the fasilitator and master of the ceremony.
Last but not least we have environment program. We did a community service such as cleaning the road of the village, made a sreet signboard, and empower the breeder by made and informed them an alternative forage by Azolla Microphylla moreover we also help them to build a pool where Azolla can grow, when the Azolla already thrives we gave it to the cattle. The breeder was happy for the output the cattle became healthy and they didn't need to find a grass anymore to feed them.
That was an amazing experience of my social work, nothing can beat that experience. I feel so "human" at that time. I grateful can inspire the children to fight for their dreams.
